Point Beach Nuclear Plant's Unit 1 was near full power Monday after being shut down for maintenance and refueling.

Sara Cassidy, a spokeswoman for owner FPL Group Inc. of Juno Beach, Fla., said the unit was down for regularly scheduled refueling and basic maintenance.
She said the unit was offline for 39 days. It began powering up on Thursday.
The two units at Point Beach generate 514 megawatts of electricity each.
The power plant is just north of Two Rivers on Lake Michigan.
